Australian Sea Life

Thoughts on the Australian Sea Life series?

Nice looking coins, similar in nature to that of the dangerous creatures series which was very popular, although these appear to be 1/2oz...

pricey for a 1/2 ounce. more pricey than normal even, IMO. The nemo fish might be popular.

That 1/2 oz silver coin is very beautiful IMO but the price on it is very ugly. Yikes!!!!!!.

I guess I am just a collector who is a cheapskate................or maybe I am just a broke GIMer.

Yes they are pretty pricey for their silver content, but price seems pretty normal for the perth mint coloured/series coins, 1oz usually around $100, 1/2oz $50.

when i collect certain coins, I usually hope to get the value back if I ever have to sell it. Can you say that about the see life series?

The Lion Fish sold out quickly on initial release and is now selling on eBay for around AUD$100 (nearly twice it's original price).

Leafy Sea Dragon not doing as well, hasn't yet sold out, but to be honest looks the most average in the series.

The Clown Fish was released today:

As per post above by Glass I expect it to sell quite well due to the Nemo tie-in, I think it would be the coin with the widest appeal. It will be interesting to see how quickly it sells out at the Perth Mint in comparison to the Lion Fish.

Sure they're cute and all, but 8.7 bucks worth of silver for $50 + is silly.
